If you are in SETUP mode the short cut is also pressing the & buttons together - then press MIDI. If you are in PROGRAM mode the short cut to it is pressing the & buttons together - then press To quickly check if the PC3X is sending the right information, you need to go to the UTILITIES screen. I've tried to force the parameter and nothing happens. Under the learn mode it comes back with MIDI control #21, the fader starts jerking as if it's receiving something, but nothing happens. I bring in a slider control and I'm trying to map the volume control to MIDI 7. In layout mode where you "learn" hardware controls, it's not happening. I'm dead in the water right out of the gate trying to set up my PC3X. You could of course think of using the Setup-Mode, but that Mode is not really suitable in use with a sequencer. Can be changed on the MIDI-Modes pages but should be ok for what your planning to do. One thing to remember: In Program-Mode the PC3 sends MIDI data always on the currently selected channel (see top right) and receives on all channels. I'm using Cubase with this setup without any problems, the PC3 is an awesome controller. Have alook at the manual's "Controller Destination List" on p 7-22 to see what can be mapped to a physical controller. Define your new Setup as the ControlSetup on MIDI>XMIT. 126, modify the Sliders' MIDI values and save this setup to a new location. The easiest way is to go to Setup-Mode, edit Setup Nr. If you want to change this, you have to create a new Setup and define it as you ControlSetup.

With this default setup selected the values of the sliders correspond to the MIDI-CCs printed on the PC3s chassis, eg. 126 "Internal Voices", this can be changed on the MIDI-Modes "XMIT" page - do so only if you understand how things work. I don't know how familiar you are with your Kurzweil, so here's some basics: if you're in Program-Mode, all controller assignments (sliders, buttons, switches.) are defined by the ControlSetup. I'm not a Mainstage user but I can help you with the PC3. I'm just getting started and am already discouraged.I just hope somebody understands what I'm trying to do or maybe has had some success I realize somebody would need to know how Mainstage works in order to answer this, but I'm hoping somebody can shed some light.
USING KURZWEIL PC2X AS MIDI CONTROLLER SOFTWARE
Can the PC3X be set up as a controller and be used to control/play software instruments by mapping parameters or as an external instrument under a mainstage channel strip.

I'd envision patches being either software instruments or external instruments, but regardless.the idea is to use my keyboards as the controllers. The goal is to emulate my live rig, set up patches under Mainstage setups to be able to scroll thru the set list with the band. Looking to use my PC3X (and some other keyboards.) as controllers under Mainstage 2.
